Biography

About Hinderina Cohen

Hinderina Cohen was the daughter of Simon Joseph Cohen and Roosje van der Rhoer. In 1917 she married Joseph Wolff. The couple had a son who was stillborn, and a few years later they separated. Hinderina lived alone for some time, but later on her cousin, the widower of her sister Johanna, Philippus van der Rhoer (born 4-4-1992) came to live at the same address. When the Jews of Meppel were transported to camps, Hinderina initially remained behind, since she had cancer and was in hospital. In March 1943 she was arrested nonetheless and taken to Westerbork. Ze was killed in Sobibor.
