About Arthur Paul Czellitzer

Arthur Paul Czellitzer was an eye doctor from Berlin who settled in Breda in 1938. He founded the Gesellschaft für jüdische Familienforschung (1924) and the 'Zeitschrift für jüdische Familienforschung'.

Arthur Paul Czellitzer was the son of a manufacturer. He studied medicine at the universities of Breslau (Wrocław), Freiburg im Breisgau and Munich. After than, he worked as a registrar in eye clinics at universities in Heidelberg and Strasbourg and the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1900 he settled in Berlin as an ophthalmologist, and he had a private clinic there from 1907 onward. During the First World War he worked in the ophthalmology department of the military hospital in Warsaw. Czellitzer published articles about genealogy, as well as physiological optics and diseases of the eye. In 1929 his book Vererbung des Astigmatismus was published.
