Jacob Berlijn was a son of Levie Mozes Berlijn and Ziena van Gelder. He married 1 June 1911 in Amsterdam Esther Lakmaaker, a daughter of Emanuel Lakmaaker and Marianna Vos. The couple had two children: Louis and Max.
Since October 1929 the family resided in Antwerp. Jacob Berlijn has been deported from Mechelen to Auschwitz on 29 August 1942 with Convoy VI and he was killed there on 31 August 1942.
