Joseph Max Meijers played soccer at the soccerclub WVC in Winterswijk.
This soccerclub placed a memorial for Joseph Max.
During the war Max and his mother went into hiding in Medoo, near to Winterswijk. Probably by betrayal they were caught and deported.

\The mayor of Winterswijk requested that Joseph Max Meijers, without any occupation and residing at 54 Haitsma Mulierweg in Winterswijk, be located, detained and brought to trial. He had left his place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. Identifying characteristics: 'About 5'5" tall, blond hair, normal build, no beard or moustache, does not appear Jewish.'
