Father and son Van Wieringen took part in the resistance. During an attempt stabbing to England they were arrested and detained in the so-called Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. From there they were deported to camp Amersfoort and then to Auschwitz.
After the war a "Book of the Dead" was made with the names and portraits of the inmates of the Oranjehotel. This "Book of the Dead" can be consulted on the website of the Nationaal Archief.

Willem van Wieringen, a sales representative, appears on the official honour roll as a member of the resistance.
