Izaac de Leeuwe started in February 1937, just like his father, a trade in ‘bicycles, bicycle parts, radios and electrical appliance and lampshades’ on the Melkmarkt. In accordance with § 7 VO 48/1941 (Nazi regulation to remove Jews from the trade and industry) the company
was liquidated in September 1941 and dissolved in June 1943.

On behalf of the Sicherheitspolizei in Zwolle, the police commissioner requested that 44 Jews suspected of having violated German regulations by temporarily changing their place of residence without the required authorization be located, detained and brought to trial. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. Izaac de Leeuwe, a shopkeeper, was one of these 44 people in hiding from Zwolle.
