Meyer Sanders was a son of Jakob Sanders and Sipora Verdoner. He got married in 1896 to Lena Hoornstra, the daughter of Philip Hoornstra and Rabetta Strasser. The couple had eight children, among whom Sipora and Jacob. Lena Sanders-Hoornstra died in 1931.
