Hartog Goldsteen and his family

Hartog Goldsteen married Rezina Turksma on 30 April 1919. They had two children: Lini and Frits. Hartog had a chemist’s shop/house-painting workshop at the corner of Tweede Hoofdstraat and Keizersgracht in Meppel. The shop was closed down in 1942. On 20 July 1942 Hartog Goldsteen had to go to Orvelte labour camp. On 2 October he was taken from there to Westerbork, where he saw his wife again.

In addition, a Jokos file (number 34057) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 4108/19536).
