Michiel Groenteman went into hiding in Doetinchem. His son Samuel hid with a farmer in Halle, near Doetinchem. When it was found out that Samuel was Jewish, the occupying forces managed to find out where Michiel had gone into hiding. On 15 August 1944 he was arrested.
