Hartog Trijtel was the son of Joseph Trijtel and Naatje le Grand. He worked as a chauffeur and as e merchant in vegtables. On 6 March 1912 he got married to Roosje Hertog, daughter of Nathan Philipp Hertog and Sientje Lusse. The couple had five children, among whom Samuel en Sientje. Non of the children survived the war.
