Salomon Delmonte and his family lived for periods in Amsterdam and in Antwerp. At 24 years of age, Salomon had gone to Antwerp. There he met Betsy Speijer. Their first home was at Ruyschstraat 21 in Amsterdam, where their first child was born. Their second child was born seven years later, and died shortly after birth. A few years later, their third child was born. After the First World War the family moved to Antwerp, and in 1941 they moved back to Amsterdam.
