Mozes Gompers was the son of Benjamin Gompers and Grietje van Kloeten. He had a variety of occupations: he was a travelling salesman, he had a shop that sold party goods, and worked as an assistant at a bookbinder’s/library. In 1926 he moved from Gouda to Enschede.
Mozes married Bertha Visser on 12 January 1927. They had three children. Their second child, David Benjamin, was born on 30 July 1930, but died three days later.
