Samuel van Stedum married Henriëtte Reindorp in Haifa on 10 June 1936. He was the director of the youth aliyah home at the Hof van Moerkerken in Mijnsheerenland. From August 1939 until November 1940 the Hof van Moerkerken was one of five training centres in the Netherlands where Palestine Pioneers were educated to prepare them for emigration to Palestine.
After the forced evacuation of the Hof van Moerkerken, Samuel van Stedum and his wife moved to Amsterdam on 7 November 1940.
