David van Gelder and his family

When the Van Gelder family was released after being arrested a previous time, they returned to a robbed house. This event is described in: H. Wielek, De oorlog die Hitler won (Amsterdam 1947) 178.

We have been unable to determine whether one or more members of this family survived the war. While their names do not appear on the lists of survivors, we have not been able to trace them in In Memoriam either. They are therefore labeled as 'surviving' and their names are not listed.

In addition, a Jokos file (number 4383) on this family is at the Amsterdam Municipal Archive. Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk. The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 3799/8429).
