Barend Duis and Saartje Blits married in 1906 in Amsterdam. They had eight children: David, Samuel, Willem, Martijn, Maria, Anna and two children who survived the war. After Barend Duis died in July 1941 Saartje moved in with family of her son Samuel. Barend Duis and Saartje Blits are both buried on the Jewish cemetary in Diemen.
