Hartog van Adelsberg was a travelling merchant in textile. His wife Sientje Polak was a sales representative for a lady's fashion company. Their son Willem Julius also was a travelling merchant. Their other son Emile was a smith. Their daughter Henny went to the Ferdinand Bolschool in 1934. Later she became a sales lady. There was a fourth child in this family, Esther, who died in 1927 at the age of six after she was ran over by a potato cart.
