Sigmund was the eldest child of eight children. His sisters Rosalia, Hedwig and Ida lived with him. He never married because he did not want his sisters not to have a place to live. Thanks to Sigmund, the rest of the family was able to survive. He kept the money for his family in Sittard and gave them money to escape.
