Abraham Arön Sterk was married to Vrouwgje Magnus. The couple had three children, of which their daughter Leny Louise did not survive the war. The family lived at 11a Vondelstraat in Assen. They had a thriving fashion business at 9-11 Marktstraat. In 1942, their business was seized by the Nazis.

Abraham Arön Stern and his wife Vrouwgje Magnus were both ill and spent considerable time in hospitals in Assen and Groningen. In April 1943, they were collected from the hospital and taken to Westerbork. Leny Louise Stern had already been in camp Westerbork from 2 October 1942. She was deported to Sobibor together with her parents.
