Transit camp for Jews in Belgium, which was housed in an army barracks in the city of Mechelen.

The camp at Mechelen served a function similar to that of Westerbork in the Netherlands. It was the main assembly point for Jews from Belgium before they were transported east to Auschwitz and other destinations. Many Dutch Jews, who lived in Belgium or who were arrested there while trying to escape, were also deported from Mechelen.
