BITUARY ZACHARIAS ("JACK") VAN DER VEN (1919 - 2011) Died peacefully on March 11, 2011 at the Jewish General Hospital, in his ninety-second year. Jack van der Ven was the beloved husband of Marianne ("Jenny", nee Dresden), his wife of sixty-eight years who survives him and mourns his passing. Loving father of Elsje (Peter), Yvonne (Thilo), and Anita (Yvan) and dear grandfather to Richard, Jennifer and Matthew. Born in Holland, Jack and his family immigrated to Canada in 1952 after surviving the Holocaust. He established a very successful foreign car dealership and body shop, St. Louis Garage, in St-Eustache, Quebec. In retirement, he specialized in restoring vintage sports cars and enjoyed many winters in Naples, Florida. In his later years, he devoted his time exclusively to taking care of his loving wife. The family loved him very much and will miss him dearly. We wish to thank the doctors and staff at the Jewish General Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Segal Cancer Centre, c/o Jewish General Hospital Foundation (514-340-8251) in Jack's memory would be greatly appreciated. The family will hold a Celebration of Jack's life at a date to be announced later.
