Meijer Lisser was a son of Alexander Lisser and Vogeltje Cohen. He married in Amsterdam on 3 June 1936 to Margaretha Bloemendaal from Leeuwarden. She survived the Holocaust. Together with his mother and sister Margaretha he was arrested in Haarlem where they had gone into hiding.
Meijer had another brother: Marcus, who did not survive the Holocaust too.
