David Valensa was de oudste van vijf zonen van Jacob en Rebecca Valensa. Hij was kleermaker en had een klein eigen kleermakers atelier in de Krugerstraat in Amsterdam. David trouwde met Stella Schuitevoerder en zij kregen één dochter (Coby). Deze dochter overleefde de oorlog doordat zij op Sinterklaasavond 1942 in Hoofddorp te vondeling werd gelegd op een afgesproken plaats. Daar werd zij opgenome…

David Valensa and Esther Schuitevoerder had a child in 1941. The child’s uncle abandoned her in the hope that she would be adopted in 1943, and a resistance fighter nicknamed ‘De Ooievaar’ (‘the Stork’) took her to a foster home in Haarlemmermeer. In this way the child survived the war.
