Marcus Lisser was a son of AlexanderLisser and Vogeltje Cohen and brother of Meijer and Margaretha. He was a communist and member of the CPN (Communist Party of the Netherlands), which had been banned by the Nazis, and he was involved in producing and distributing the illegal paper De Waarheid. In September 1941, Marcus was arrested in connection with his work for the resistance and deported in the early months of 1942 .
Marcus Lisser was married and had three children.
