Verhaal

Gerd Weinberg

My uncle Gerd was born on December 16th 1924 in Bad Sassendorf, Westfalia, Germany.
After Driebergen, in Netherland, Gerd lived for more than one year in Arnhem (Amsterdamscheweg 1), and then for several months in Amsterdam (Gaaspstraat 56). From there, he was sent to Westerbork on 29/06/1943 and on the same day he was taken to Sobibor where he was murdered.
His mother Hedwig Weinberg, was taken from Bad Sassendorf to Zamosc ghetto in Poland, where she died in 1942.
Gerd had an older brother, Rolf Weinberg (my father), who was born in 1920. Rolf Weinberg fled Germany in 1939 to Bolivia, and later to Brazil, where he married Regina (my mother) and had three daughters: Simone, Lilian (myself) and Sandra.
