Dear Peter Brody,
In the archives of the small village of Oostzaan are the names of you and your parents, Leiba and Ruth, with an arrival date of 16 September 1938. For 13 days you were registered on the address Zuideinde 447 - which is the house you're standing for (see Google maps, the street now makes part of Amsterdam). Your mother might have made the picture. I didn't know that she was a daughter of Hermann Feinstein. On September 3 arrived in Oostzaan Anna Millenick, the catholic servant of your father or of Bianka Goldberg, with whom he married on October 20 1938. Maybe you came together? You might know the family Pelziger as well (the parents, Dolli and Jean Freund). Anyhow, the picture will not have been made on January 10 1938, but on a date in September of the same year. More information about Hermann and Bianka is to be found on www.joodsmonumentzaanstreek.nl, but only in Dutch. You will find there more about the 75 Jewish refugees in Oostzaan (1933-1942). I could organize with some friends a marker for them and their helpers, in 2005, on the side wall of Zuideinde 443 (see Google maps). In time I could help you with the translation of the texts.
Best wishes, Pim Ligtvoet
