Idealistic life cut short

Verhaal -

I never knew my uncle, but I heard my mother's loving descriptions. He was her older brother, and she looked up to him. He was an idealist who dreamt of moving to the land of Israel and working in the holy land. For that reason, he left Nazi Germany to join a hachshara kibbutz, an agricultural training institute under orthodox Jewish auspices in Holland. He was young and alone, but there were several close relatives of ours living in Holland who could help him. All these hopes were not to be; he was shipped to the Nazi extermination camp and lost his life among six million other Jews.
