Landelijke Organisatie voor Hulp aan Onderduikers

National organization that during the war helped people in hiding.

During the German occupation of the Netherlands, the LO was by far the largest and most important resistance movement. The organization, which did not really get off the ground until 1943, helped large numbers of people who needed to hide (both Jews and non-Jews). It provided addresses to be used as hiding-places and distributed ration coupons, vital sources of food for those concerned. These were often supplied by the 'National Assault Teams' (LKP), the armed division of the LO.
