HMAS Corvette Armidale, on which Roelof Frank found his sailor's grave 1 Dedember 1942 in the Timorsea, after they were hit by two Japanes air-torpedo's and sank.

About Roelof Frank.

Roelof Frank, born in Steenwijk in 1909, was a son of Joachim Salomon Frank and Dora Heijmans. 22 March 1935 he married in Oss Betty Maijer from Brambauer (Germany), a daughter of Sigmund Maijer and Johanna Rosenbaum. They lived at Spoorlaan 66 in Oss where on 15 August 1938 their son Joachim was born.

About Dr. Roelof Frank, Medical Officer.

Dr. Roelof Frank was called up for military service in February 1940 and stationed near Hoek van Holland. He crossed over to England with the Dutch Royal Family and the remnants of the Dutch army in May 1940. He worked as Medical Officer at Clapham Hospital, London, at Porthcawl and in Yorkshire. Sent to Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1941, he served in the British army there. He made three co…
