Stolpersteine

Stolpersteine (lit. “stumbling stones or blocks”), an initiative of the artist Gunter Demnig, remembering the victims of National Socialism by commemorative cobble stones with brass plaques in the pavement in front of their last address of choice.

The Talmud says that "a person is only forgotten when his or her name is forgotten". With the Stolpersteine in front of the houses, the memory of the people who once lived here, is kept alive.

Each “stone” begins with HERE LIVED…  One “stone”. One name. One person.
