Henri Heertje was the son of Meijer Heertje and Engeltje Croonenberg. He was married to Evalina Schoolmeester. Henri Heertje earned a doctoral degree. His thesis, ‘De diamantbewerkers van Amsterdam’ (The diamond workers of Amsterdam) was published in 1936.
