Anna Polak married Salomon Brest in 1894 in Groningen. Salomon died in 1918. Anna moved to Zwolle in 1928 where she ran a draperies shop in the Diezerstraat 122.
At 29 April 1929 the shop officially turned into a company with the name "Firma Wed. S. Brest-Polak". Anna's three sons became partners. The company was a retail trader of draperies, silver and gold. Later on the company did wholesale of wool.
In May 1938, Anna withdrew from the company. As a result of the anti Jewish regulations, the company went in liquidation at 21 May 1942 and was wound up at 24 August 1942.
In September 1945 one of the surviving children was appointed as administrator.
