On 21 October 1943, two Tilburg policemen arrested Jonas Samuel Fransman, his wife, Mary van der Stam, and a relative of Jonas Samuel’s. Mary was heavily pregnant and was immediately taken to hospital, while the other two were locked up at police headquarters. Mary had a daughter, Jopie Paulina, on 1 November. On 22 November, Jonas Samuel, Mary and Jopie Paulina were deported. They all died. Jonas’s relative survived the war.
