Mozes de Hes

On 1 July 1883 Mozes de Hes passed the examination for the lowest level of religious instructor at the Nederlands Israëlitisch Seminarium in Amsterdam. He started as a religious instructor in Doetinchem and subsequently served as such in Smilde, Roermond, Gorredijk (23 years) and Vlissingen. Mozes de Hes was de laatste chazan in de synagoge van Bergen op Zoom. Door nieuwbouw in de binnenstad van Bergen op Zoom ontstond een pleintje. Een van de gidsen van de Stichting Bezichtiging Monumenten is zeer actief geweest bij de gemeente en het is hem gelukt om het nieuwe pleintje de naam te geven van Mozes de Hesplein.
