About Pinkus Szmull Landau

Pinkus Szmull Landau and his brother Abraham Ide Landau co-owned a sugar-produce factory at the Nieuwe Herengracht in Amsterdam called the "Landau Bros". The factory was first located at the Nieuwe Kerkstraat.

Op Plantage Franschelaan 30-I woonden ook dochters Lyia en Rosa Landau; Lyia is mijn moeder; beide kinderen konden onderduiken in Friesland. Lyia werkte  als kindermeisje in de creche tegenover de Hollandsche Schouwburg en heeft meegeholpen om meisjes uit de schouwburg te smokkelen.

Pinkus Landau was communist. Begin jaren dertig hield hij een lezing over de politieke situatie in Europa bij de Oostjoodse cultuurvereniging Sch. Anski in Amsterdam. Milo Anstadt bezocht die lezing en schrijft daar uitgebreid over in zijn autobiografie.
