Georges Zeligman Cahnter studeerde rechten aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam en promoveerde op 25 juni 1918 tot doctor in de rechtswetenschap op 34 stellingen.
Hij was bij zijn huwelijk met Helene Content tijdelijk adjunct directeur der directe belasting.

Georges Zeligman Cahnter was the son of Mozes Emanuel Cahnter and Henriette Goldstein. He was a lawyer. He was married to Helene Content. The couple lived at 83 Sarphatistraat in Amsterdam. George Zeligman Cahnter died at Vught concentration camp on 25 April 1943.
