Salomon van Gelder

Two sons of Salomon van Gelder and Sarlina Aronius survived the war. Before the war one son lived in the Netherlands Indies. During the war he was imprisoned and had to work as a forced labourer at the Burma railroad.

Voor Beilen heeft de Tweede Wereldoorlog zware gevolgen gehad. Van de Joodse inwoners van Beilen zijn er 46 door de Duitsers vermoord en slechts 12 mensen hebben de oorlog overleefd. Het Joodse leven was na 1945 zo goed als verdwenen uit Beilen. De Synagoge aan de Schoolstraat werd niet meer gebruikt en is inmiddels afgebroken. Op dit moment is weinig in Beilen dat nog herinnert aan de vooroorlogs…
