During the war Hartog Andries Groenewoudt lived with the family of his daughter Sara in Zaltbommel. Together with the other Jewish residents of Zaltbommel they were transported to Westerbork In November 1942.

Hartog Andries Groenewoudt was the son of Andries Samuel Groenewoudt and Sara Levie. He was a meat carver as well as a ritual butcher. He was first married to Kaatje Hijmans. The couple had three children: Lea, Sara and Andries. After Kaatje Hijmans had died, Hartog Andries Groenewoudt married Louisa Eva Cohen.
