About Isaäc Mug and his wife Esther Brilleman.

Isaäc Mug, a son of Abraham Mug and Mietje van Gogh, was born in Rotterdam on 27 March 1888. Isaäc was born deaf; however on his family registration card was mentioned : “deaf and dumb”. Isaäc was working as a docker before he was married. He also earned his money as a merchant in various goods.

About Esther and Isaäc

Esther attended the Groningen school for the deaf from September 8, 1903 to July 11, 1912. According to the school records, she was born deaf. She learned to sew.

Her father was a street vendor by trade. Esther herself became a seamstress and housewife.

Esther married Isaäc Mug, he was deaf and a former student of the Rotterdam school for the deaf.
