Vogeltje Stodel was a daughter of Joseph Stodel and Elizabeth (Betje) Metz. She was born in Amsterdam on 2 May 1879 and married Abraham Sons there on 24 December 1903, who was born on 2 May 1879 in Amsterdam as a son of Isaac Sons and Angelique Bierman.

Abraham Sons, who was a commercial traveller by profession, moved after his wedding to Vogeltje Stodel into a house at Ruyschstraat 76 2nd floor in Amsterdam-East, where they have lived till Vogeltje (Vogelina) Stodel passed away there on 9 April 1941. She was interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. Abraham and Vogeltje had no offspring.

Saartje Schielaar, who worked as a home seamstress, arrived from Rotterdam in Amsterdam on 24 August 1941. She then came to live in with Abraham Sons at Ruyschstraat 76. On 18 November 1942, Abraham and Saartje were arrested and carried off from their home address to Westerbork. There, in the camp, Abraham married for the second time on 20 November Saartje Schielaar, who was born on 17 September 1878 in Rotterdam as daughter of Aron Schielaar and Judith Soesman.

After being married that 20th of November, they were both put on transport to Auschwitz on 24 November 1942. Upon arrival there on 27 November 1942, the 65-year old Abraham Sons and his 64-year old “bride” Saartje Schielaar were immediately murdered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
