On 19 December 1938 over 200 male German refugees over 18 were transferred from Amsterdam to the prison camp Norg in Veenhuizen. On 3 January 1939, 207 of them were transferred to the naval base at Hellevoetsluis. 545967 husband and father was among them.

Otto Selig, his wife Elisabeth née Reinberg (born on 13 February 1898 in Kamen, Germany), and their son Gerd lived on Mallinckrodtstraße 139 in Dortmund, Germany until 1938.
