Biography

About Alida Judith Aletrino, her husband Simon Pierotto and their daughter Sara.

Alida Judith Aletrino was the eldest of the two children of Abraham Aletrino and Sara Finsij. She was born in Amsterdam on 16 November 1906. She married Simon Pierotto on 7 August 1930 in Amsterdam, who was born 8 September 1891 in Amsterdam as son of Levie Pierotto and Alida Carels. The couple had a daughter Sara, who was born 4 January 1931, but just as her parents, she too has been killed during the Shoah.

Alida’s husband Simon Pierotto was a street market vendor and traded in irregular goods. He lived at home with his parents at Blasiusstraat 62 1st floor and after he was married to Alida Aletrino, his newly wed wife came living in with him. But on 30 September 1931, when their baby in the meantime was already 9 months old, they moved to Govert Flinckstraat 343 2nd floor in the Amsterdam district named “De Pijp”.

On 21 November 1942 the family was arrested and carried off via the Hollandsche Schouwburg to Westerbork and deported to Auschwitz on 4 December. On arrival there on 7 December 1942, Alida Judith Aletrino, her husband Simon Pierotto and their daughter Sara Pierotto, were immediately killed in the gas chambes of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
