What is the NDVS?

Nationale Database Vervolgingsslachtoffers

Addition -

The NDVS, National Database of Victims of Persecution, is a database containing basic information on victims of persecution, jointly managed by the Jewish Museum / Digital Jewish Monument and the Westerbork Camp Memorial Center.

On the individual victim pages of the Digital Jewish Monument, you can identify those included in the NDVS by the text "Person is part of the National Database of Victims of Persecution" under the "Links" section.

The NDVS contains the following basic information about the victims:

  • First name and surname.
  • Date and place of birth.
  • Date and place of death.

The following victims are included in the NDVS:

  • All Jews, Roma and Sinti of Dutch nationality who perished in or near the camps during the Holocaust.
  • All Jews, Roma and Sinti who fled to the Netherlands and lived in the Netherlands during the war years and who perished in or near the camps during the Holocaust.
  • Jews of Dutch nationality who were deported from Belgium and France and did not survive the Holocaust are also included.
  • Jews who were executed in the Netherlands during the war are also included.

More information about the collaboration between the National Holocaust Memorial of Names and the NDVS can be found here.

Corrections and additions are continually being made to the NDVS, based on research and newly available sources, such as corrections based on birth and death certificates. New victims are also regularly added if they meet the NDVS criteria. Therefore, the NDVS is never complete and error-free. If you have any questions about the NDVS, please contact the editors of the Digital Jewish Monument at joodsmonument@jck.nl
