During the commemoration of 50 year libaration of WWII, grandsons of Eliazer Gompers made a trip trough Amsterdam, where they have visited places with a personal memory for them. So they have visited also Nieuwe Keizersgracht 56, the residence from 1909 till April 1943 where grandfather Eliazer Gompers, grandma Rebecca Zwaab have lived and where later Joseph Zwaab (uncle Jo - an unmarried brother of Rebecca) has lived in.To their amazement and their surprise they found in one of the windows of the backroom of the house, scratched with diamonds, the name of grandfather Eliazer as his signature: E. Gompers. This window still excists today and also this signature is still very good readable. On a photo, this signature can be viewed in the photo carrousel of this page of Eliazer Gompers.
