Sjakie, the first born son of Loutje and Beppie Degen was nearly 3 1/2 years old, when he and his parents were registered in Camp Westerbork on 23 Maart 1943. He stayed with his parents for some days in barack 60 but was deported with them on 6 April to Sobibor. Upon arrival there on 9 April 1943, Sjakie and his parents were still that same day killed in the gaschambers.
