Willem van Gelderen was a son of Michel van Gelderen and Frecderika Fedder. Hij was unmarried and his profession was street- and market vendor. When he was 8 years old, he lost his parents and became an orphant. He had a sister Emma and two older brothers Jacob and Alfred. Willem has resided several years in the family of his brother Alfred.
