Joseph Brilleslijper was a son of Machiel Brilleslijper and Rebekka Bamberger. He married 15 November 1911 to Vrouwtje van Geens, daughter of Jonas van Geens and Margaretha Halberstadt. Together they had three children: Machiel, Margaretha and Rebekka.
On 24 July 1924 Vrouwtje van Geens passed away and one year later on 1 July 1925 Joseph Brilleslijper married in Amsterdam to Duifje van Velzen, daughter of Salomon van Velzen and Dina Berghoff.
Toghether they had again two children, of whom Salomon died as a baby of 3 months old in 1926, and Hartog.
