Gerrit Kleerekoper was a son of Israel Kleerekoper and Judith Vleeschdrager. He married 20 June 1907 in Amsterdam to Eva Betel, a daughter of Gerrit Isaak Betel and Rebecca Blom. The couple had five children, of whom the here mentioned Maurits has died in Amsterdam. One daughter survived the war but their other children, 488484, 488538 and 527763 have been killed during the Holocaust.
