Salomon Schelvis was a son of Arie Schelvis and Elsje Polak. He came from a family with seven children. His other siblings were Wolf, Levie, Marianne, Rebecca, Mozes and Esther.
Salomon married Esther Vos on 3 March 1937 in Amsterdam.
