About Engelina Seemer-de Leeuw

Engelina de Leeuw was the widow of Meijer Seemer. During his life, Meijer Seemer was the first violinist and concertmaster of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. The couple had three children. Cato Charlotte died before the war. The other two daughters were Elisabeth, who worked for the electrical equipment firm L. Zelander, the forerunner of the Technische Unie, and Hendrina, who was disabled and did not work.
The two daughters, Elisabeth and Hendrina, were picked up and deported after being betrayed. Engelina Seemer-de Leeuw died in hiding. Her body was buried in the garden. After the war, she was reburied in the Jewish cemetery in Diemen.
