Jacob Katan and his family

Jacob Katan was married. He and his wife lived at 25 Huygensstraat in The Hague. They had four children.

Jacob Katan was in hiding with his wife. They were caught and deported to Auschwitz. Upon their arrival at Auschwitz, several items of jewelry were stolen from them.

One child survived the war. The three other children, Joël Katan, Marcus Katan and Saartje Katan (married to Izak Mozes), were killed during the war.

The archive of the Stichting Sieraden-Comité contains a list of stolen items of jewelry, a statement take under oath and a statement of the right to inheritance.
